Karan S. Chadha

Founder and Managing Partner

Karan founded Farlap Capital in June 2015. Prior to Farlap Capital, Karan was the Head of Principal Investments at ACPI Investments, a London based multi-family office and private wealth manager. At ACPI, Karan was responsible for originating, structuring and distributing proprietary transactions across a diverse range of asset classes. He worked on numerous primary and secondary deals across private equity, senior and mezzanine debt, real estate and structured credit. Previously, Karan worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Aladdin Capital, London, managing emerging market and high yield credit.

Prior to Aladdin, he was a Partner and Senior Portfolio manager at Washington Square Investment Management, a London based structured credit hedge fund that was later acquired by the Blackstone Group. He was also a member of the investment team at Oaktree Capital Management, Los Angeles, responsible for investing the firm's assets in high yield and distressed credit. He began his career at JPMorgan Securities, New York, as an Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group helping finance leveraged buyouts, recapitalisations and DIP financings.

Karan has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, USA and sits on the Board of Directors for Bulldog London Dry Gin (CK3 LLC).


Director – Principal Investments

Aseem joined Farlap in 2018. He has over 15 years of investment experience in principal investment origination, execution, strategy and fundraising across multiple asset classes.

Aseem was a Principal at ICICI Ventures, where he led the execution of the first private equity transaction in the standalone health insurance space in India, and at AION Capital Partners, a joint venture between Apollo Global Management and ICICI Ventures. Aseem was a part of the founding team of AION and played a leading role in AION’s investment strategy formulation and fundraising.

Aseem started his career at GE Capital’s Equity Capital Group in London where he worked on growth capital private equity transactions for three years followed by two years at GE Capital’s Financial Restructuring Group in Connecticut, where he underwrote NPL portfolios.

Aseem has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, an MSc in Finance (with Distinction) from the London Business School, and a Sloan Masters in Leadership & Strategy (with Distinction) from the London Business School.


Director – Principal Investments

Dirk joined Farlap Capital in 2017. Prior to Farlap Capital, Dirk worked as investment banker in the financial sponsor team at Citi, London, where he was involved in numerous private equity M&A and leverage finance transactions across the retail, brewing, pharmaceutical and technology sectors. Dirk was also a M&A lawyer in the private equity team at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, Amsterdam, acting for private equity buyers and sellers on M&A, equity structuring and numerous bilateral and auction sale processes. Dirk also advised target companies and their boards on numerous public-to-private transactions.

Dirk began his career at Clifford Chance, London, as trainee solicitor and later as a solicitor in Clifford Chance’s private equity team. He also worked as legal counsel at Travelex group (Apax Partners’ portfolio company), in London. In addition to his responsibilities for legal support to Travelex’s Global Business Payments division, Dirk worked as part of a small corporate development team on various strategic projects of the group.

Dirk has a B.A. in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and an M.B.A. from INSEAD in Fontainebleau/Singapore.


Head of Investor Relations

Serena joined Farlap in October 2018. Prior to Farlap, she was a Managing Director at Perella Weinberg Partners, based in London. At Perella Weinberg she was spearheading the European Marketing and Sales efforts for the firm’s Alternative Investments Strategies, across both public and private markets, for 6 years. Prior to that Serena was at Citigroup from 2007 to 2012, where she most recently served as a Director responsible for the Capital Introductions team, where she was managing and developing the European capital strategy efforts in the firm’s Prime Finance division.

Serena was previously a Director of Eurekahedge, within their private placement arm, where she was distributing alternative investment products as well as originating and managing relationships with target investors, primarily in Continental Europe. Serena started her career in Alternatives Investments as Director at Terrapinn within its "Hedge Funds World" brand, in early 2000, where she focused on the intellectual content and business development of strategic hedge fund events and intelligence in Europe and Latin America.

Serena has a Bachelor of Political Science from the University La Sapienza in Rome.


Chief Operating Officer

Kunal joined Farlap Capital in 2018. Prior to Farlap Capital, Kunal worked as an investment banker at Verdier & Co (VCO) in London, where he was also Founding Member. At VCO, he worked on several advisory and corporate finance transactions. Previously, Kunal worked at MVision, a global private placement firm in London, where he was responsible for origination and special projects. Prior to that Kunal worked at Aloe Private Equity, where he was involved in investments and portfolio management, and sat on the boards of two portfolio companies.

Kunal started his career as a management consultant at Deloitte in India and subsequently worked at a knowledge process outsourcing firm Evalueserve, before moving to ICF International’s (Nasdaq: ICFI) Delhi office where he helped set up and subsequently led the firm’s carbon finance business locally. In 2008, Kunal moved to ICF’s London office, advising bulge-bracket banks and utilities on structuring carbon finance transactions. Kunal also supported the in-house M&A team on European expansion.

Kunal has a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and a Masters in Finance (MiF) from London Business School. He is also a CFA Level 2 candidate.


Investor Relations

Sapna joined Farlap Capital in 2018. Sapna is also a proprietor of a Singapore-based lifestyle business, incorporating sales and marketing of “haute” bespoke jewellery and other lifestyle products, such as rare whiskey. Sapna is also a Rare Whiskey Ambassador for Diageo Singapore.

Prior to these current roles, Sapna worked as a Portfolio Manager for a Distressed Asia Fund for Spice Group.

Sapna previously worked within the Institutional Investor Sales team of both Citigroup and JP Morgan, at Singapore and New York respectively.

Sapna has a MSc in Economic History from London School of Economics and Political Science, a MSc in Development Studies from School of Oriental and African Studies (London) and a BSc in Economics and Political Science from St. Xavier’s College Bombay (India)

Aminkhan Aladin

Former Chairman, MC Asset Management 

Amin is the former Chairman of MC Asset Management, Mitsubishi Capital’s asset management business in the USA. Prior to MC Asset Management, Amin was Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Aladdin Capital Holdings LLC, a $20 billion structured credit and investment management firm. Prior to Aladdin, Mr. Aladin served as a Managing Director of International Fixed Income at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, in Tokyo, Japan. Previously he was General Manager, International Fixed Income at Smith Barney. Mr. Aladin began his Wall Street career at Morgan Stanley in 1983, where he was a Vice President. 

Amin holds an MBA from Harvard University, Cambridge, USA. 

Driss Benkirane

Founder, RoundShield Partners

Driss is a Founder and Managing Partner at RoundShield Partners, a European asset-backed special opportunities investment firm that provides capital to small and mid-market firms. Prior to RoundShield, he was a Partner and Head of Real Estate-Related Investments at ESO Capital. Prior to ESO, he was a Vice President and Co-Head of Real Estate Special Situations at Highbridge/DB Zwirn, in New York and London, responsible for opportunistic credit transactions across the real estate, gaming, lodging and homebuilding sectors. Previously, Driss was an investment professional at JPMorgan Partners, New York, USA, where he focused on real estate and lodging private equity transactions. He began his career as an investment banker at Salomon Smith Barney in New York, USA, in real estate and lodging M&A. 

Driss graduated with a B.A. from Yale University, New Haven, USA.

Siddharth Mehta

Founder, Bay Capital

Siddharth is the Founder of Bay Capital, a firm that invests across asset classes and is focused on companies that are a beneficiary of the Indian growth story. He has had a career spanning over 14 years in asset management. Prior to Bay Capital, Siddharth was a Vice President at Kotak Mahindra and was responsible for building its international institutional asset management franchise in Europe. Prior to Kotak, he was an Executive Director at Gerken Capital Associates where he established one of the first Indian focused hedge funds, WM India Fund, in conjunction with the Kotak Mahindra Group. Previously he has held various roles at Schroders and Baring Asset Management in the Investment Management Group. 

Siddharth holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Finance from King’s College, University of London, London, UK.



Partner, Reyl & Cie

Christian is a Partner and member of the Executive Committee at Reyl & Cie, an independent banking group based in Geneva where he is responsible for global Corporate Advisory & Structuring. His career spans over 20 years in investment banking. Prior to Reyl & Cie he was Managing Director and Head of the Public Sector Solutions Group at Barclays Capital. At Barclays Capital he developed bespoke risk management and financing solutions for European governments, agencies and supranational bodies. Prior to Barclays, he held various roles at Deutsche Bank in risk management, and corporate finance. He began his career at JP Morgan.

Christian holds a Master's in International Management from IPESUP, Paris, France and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, USA.


Partner, Development Partners International

Sofiane is a Partner at Development Partners International (DPI), one of the leading private equity firms investing in Africa.  He has over 15 years of finance experience spanning private equity investing, M&A investment banking and option trading.  Prior to joining DPI, he was a Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Kingdom Zephyr Africa Management, a Pan-African private equity investment firm majority owned by Kingdom Holding Company, the investment vehicle of HRH Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Adulaziz al Saud, a member of the Saudi Royal family. Prior to Kingdom Zephyr, he was a Vice President in the M&A group at JP Morgan, New York, and started his career on the foreign exchange option trading desk of FleetBoston.

Sofiane holds an MA in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University’s International Business School, Boston, USA and a Maitrise in Management from Dauphine University, Paris, France.


Partner, Pacific Alliance Group

Kanak is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Pacific Alliance Group (PAG), one of Asia’s largest alternative investment management firms managing a diverse array of funds in private equity, real estate and absolute return strategies. Kanak is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing illiquid investment opportunities for the Absolute Returns Group. He has over 23 years of investment banking, trading and distressed investment experience. Prior to joining PAG, Kanak was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank’s Strategic Investment Group and started his career at JP Morgan.

Kanak holds an MBA from Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York, USA.
