Management

Karan S. Chadha

Founder and Managing Partner

Karan founded Farlap Capital in June 2015. Prior to Farlap Capital, Karan was the Head of Principal Investments at ACPI Investments, a London based multi-family office and private wealth manager. At ACPI, Karan was responsible for originating, structuring and distributing proprietary transactions across a diverse range of asset classes. He worked on numerous primary and secondary deals across private equity, senior and mezzanine debt, real estate and structured credit. Previously, Karan worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Aladdin Capital, London, managing emerging market and high yield credit.

Prior to Aladdin, he was a Partner and Senior Portfolio manager at Washington Square Investment Management, a London-based structured credit hedge fund that was later acquired by the Blackstone Group. He was previously a member of the investment team at Oaktree Capital Management, Los Angeles, responsible for investing the firm's assets in high yield and distressed credit. He began his career at JPMorgan Securities, New York, as an Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group helping finance leveraged buyouts, recapitalisations and DIP financings.

Karan holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, USA and sits on the Board of Directors for Bulldog London Dry Gin (CK3 LLC).

ASEEM A. RANGNEKAR

Managing Director

Aseem joined Farlap in 2018. He has over 17 years of investment experience in principal investment origination, execution, strategy and fundraising across multiple asset classes.

Prior to Farlap, he was a Principal at ICICI Ventures, where he led the execution of the first private equity transaction in the standalone health insurance space in India, and at AION Capital Partners, a joint venture between Apollo Global Management and ICICI Ventures. Aseem was a part of the founding team of AION and played a leading role in AION’s investment strategy formulation and fundraising. Aseem was previously a senior research analyst for long/short and event arbitrage listed equity strategies at Satellite Asset Management and Nomura in London.

Aseem started his career at GE Capital’s Equity Capital Group in London where he worked on growth capital private equity transactions for three years followed by two years at GE Capital’s Financial Restructuring Group in Connecticut, where he underwrote NPL portfolios.

Aseem holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, an MSc in Finance (with Distinction) from the London Business School, and a Sloan Masters in Leadership & Strategy (with Distinction) from the London Business School.

Nitish Nundoobarick

Director - Operations & Administration

Nitish joined Farlap in 2021. He has over 15 years of experience in administering investment vehicles and fund structures such as private equity funds, open ended funds as well as protected cell companies.

Prior to Farlap, Nitish started his career in the global business sector in 2005 and worked for one of the leading management companies in Mauritius for nine years. He had the opportunity to look after the New Vernon Fund structures based in Mauritius.

Thereafter, he led the Fund’s Team at Tri-Pro Administrators Ltd for six years as the Senior Clients Relations Manager, administering private equity funds and open-ended funds, including Investment Managers and Investment Advisers.

Nitish holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Open University of Mauritius. He is also a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) and a member of Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD).

Malin Lethenstrom

Head of Investor Relations

Malin joined Farlap in March 2021. Prior to Farlap, Malin was a Director of Investor Relations at Sector Asset Management, based in London. At Sector Asset Management she was responsible for capital raising for the firm’s suite of equity and credit hedge fund strategies with a focus on institutional investors in primarily the Nordics as well as in Europe and parts of the US. Prior to that Malin was at Carnegie Investment Bank in London where she spearheaded the Credit Sales team. She previously headed up Morgan Stanley’s Nordic Credit team in London and was responsible for improving the client coverage and acquisition of new clients and leveraging the firm’s platform for distributing additional credit instruments. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Malin was at Merrill Lynch’s Nordic Credit team in London where she distributed flow credit products and investment ideas to institutional investors in the Nordics and Netherlands, and previously at JP Morgan in London where she was an equity analyst.

She began her career as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney’s Nordic practice, working globally with strategic, financial and operational assignments across multiple industries.

Malin has a M.Sc. in Economics and Business with a major in Finance from the Stockholm School of Economics and a B.A. in Industrial Business and Organisation from Escuela Superior de Administracion y Direccion de Empresas.

Aminkhan Aladin

Former Chairman, MC Asset Management

Amin is the former Chairman of MC Asset Management, Mitsubishi Capital’s asset management business in the USA. Prior to MC Asset Management, Amin was Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Aladdin Capital Holdings LLC, a $20 billion structured credit and investment management firm. Prior to Aladdin, Mr. Aladin served as a Managing Director of International Fixed Income at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, in Tokyo, Japan. Previously he was General Manager, International Fixed Income at Smith Barney. Mr. Aladin began his Wall Street career at Morgan Stanley in 1983, where he was a Vice President. 

Amin holds an MBA from Harvard University, Cambridge, USA.

Akash Mehta

Chairman, PetroMoney Finance Ltd

Akash is the Founder and Chairman of PetroMoney Fintech Ltd. , a non-bank finance company (NBFC) that provides digitally enabled financial products and services through a nationwide network of petroleum-dealers in India.

He has over 20 years of transactional and principal investment experience across Asia. He is the former chairman of Indian housing and finance firm Indo Pacific Housing Finance, previously known as AIG Home Finance, which was subsequently sold to L&T Finance.

He was previously a MD with Samena Capital where he launched and managed the Samena India Credit Fund. Prior to that he was also an executive director at Ashmore India, where he focused on special situations investments and helped build its Indian FCCB book.

Before Ashmore, Mehta was a portfolio manager at a large family office in Hong Kong and was initially responsible for a Japan portfolio focusing largely on real estate – but subsequently managed a series of successful private equity investments in India.

Akash holds a BA from Haverford College, Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 

CHRISTIAN FRINGHIAN

Partner, Reyl & Cie

Christian is a Partner and member of the Executive Committee at Reyl & Cie, an independent banking group based in Geneva where he is responsible for global Corporate Advisory & Structuring. His career spans over 20 years in investment banking. Prior to Reyl & Cie he was Managing Director and Head of the Public Sector Solutions Group at Barclays Capital. At Barclays Capital he developed bespoke risk management and financing solutions for European governments, agencies and supranational bodies. Prior to Barclays, he held various roles at Deutsche Bank in risk management, and corporate finance. He began his career at JP Morgan.

Christian holds a Master's in International Management from IPESUP, Paris, France and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, USA.

SOFIANE LAHMAR

Partner, Development Partners International

Sofiane is a Partner at Development Partners International (DPI), one of the leading private equity firms investing in Africa.  He has over 15 years of finance experience spanning private equity investing, M&A investment banking and option trading.  Prior to joining DPI, he was a Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Kingdom Zephyr Africa Management, a Pan-African private equity investment firm majority owned by Kingdom Holding Company, the investment vehicle of HRH Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Adulaziz al Saud, a member of the Saudi Royal family. Prior to Kingdom Zephyr, he was a Vice President in the M&A group at JP Morgan, New York, and started his career on the foreign exchange option trading desk of FleetBoston.

Sofiane holds an MA in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University’s International Business School, Boston, USA and a Maitrise in Management from Dauphine University, Paris, France.

KANAK KAPUR

Partner, Pacific Alliance Group

Kanak is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Pacific Alliance Group (PAG), one of Asia’s largest alternative investment management firms managing a diverse array of funds in private equity, real estate and absolute return strategies. Kanak is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing illiquid investment opportunities for the Absolute Returns Group. He has over 23 years of investment banking, trading and distressed investment experience. Prior to joining PAG, Kanak was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank’s Strategic Investment Group and started his career at JP Morgan.

Kanak holds an MBA from Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York, USA.
